Health and well-being
Health outcomes are shaped by, and shape in turn, social, environmental, economic, demographic, and political factors, and many other issues outside the control of the medical profession and healthcare sector. This is particularly true when defining health broadly “as a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity”, as stated by the World Health Organization. Global trends such as population ageing, environmental disasters and climate change as well as economic factors such as increased cost of living bring additional risks and new challenges for both physical and mental health.
The Forum considered health as a core component of overall well-being, giving particular attention to the impacts of climate change and the digital transformation on physical and mental health, and health inequalities.
